‘Tireless Tate’ on the beaten path!
IM Emory Tate has made clear that his goal is to make the title of Grandmaster. He has traveled through Europe; he has played in large opens; he has played in closed invitationals; he has played in weekend swisses. Currently he is playing at the Gem City Open in Dayton, USA. He no doubt will be present at the World Open in a couple of weeks.
What is interesting about Tate’s activity is that he has continued to maintain his energy over the past couple of years. Of course, it would be much better if there were more opportunity for GM norms within geographical reach… quality vs. quantity. Tate may be headed to Dubai to play in an invitational and hopefully sponsors will continue to realize his value to tournaments.
Following is a drawn game he sent in with Alexander Goldin played in Dayton, Ohio.

Tate’s determination is very inspiring good luck to him on his GM journey.In my opinion I think in chess that to be strong you can’t let the creative element overide the real truth of the position ❓
We need to setup the Black GM Fund so support of IM Tate and others can be fiscal.
This makes sense. Where do we go from here? Should we form some type of committee of like minded individuals?
Emory is one of the greatist active minds in chess, and if we could put togather a fund that would allow him and others to draw from for tournaments abroad and far, then I am sure that he would reach his goal immediatly!!! I have an idea for passive income and after 18 months of promotion we would have the cash flow to make sure that “tate” and others are covered in there quest for Grand Master norms and titles! “Chibange”
I think Tate is very GREAT;
the GM title will come with MATE.
We will all wonder why so LONG;
the man was always STRONG.
I don’t care much about the TITLE;
he will always be my IDOL.
I wish him Godspeed in his QUEST;
he truly belongs among the BEST.
I’m ready to start soliciting donations now! What’s the plan?
I am planning to come to Worlds on Sunday, July 6th. I am very interested in participating in any effort to put together resources to help more of our players become Grand Masters. I agree that it might be a good idea to start with Tate. I am willing to contribute funds, and assist in helping to organize the effort. We should be able to get some Lawyers and Accountants who are interested in promoting Chess to help in setting up the kind of organization that will initiate this effort and make it grow.
Daaim: Your response to Clotaire Colas refers to having a legally sound structure when dealing with funds. Totally agree, but was that response to Porter’s comment because it appears that in reading Clotaire’s poetic words on tate, there is no mention of funding at all.
Daaim:
Got you! Thanks for the decryption.
Tate is currently playing in the 12th NA FIDE Invitational…

“Tate’s Shooting Gallery in the Sozin Sicilian,” is the title of GM Larry Christiansen’s scintillating video analysis(33mins.) of IM Emory Tate’s victory over GM Yudasin.It can viewed at World Chess Live, USCF members have a free 6 months membership.
DR D The possible amount to raise for the BGMF can be in my view, travel, hotels, meals and maybe a kitty fund what do you think
Hey, Good to see my old man has alot of supporters out there. I know he plays for you guys just as much as he plays for himself.
