The 1st World Minds Sports Games will kick off tomorrow in Beijing, China, the main site of the magnificent and historic 2008 Olympic Games. This unique tournament will feature five sports including bridge, go, draughts, xiangqi (Chinese chess) and international chess. Shogi was not included.

World Chess Championship (October 14th – November 2nd, Bonn, Germany) World Championship Viswanathan Anand and Vladimir Kramnik will square off for the championship in a highly-anticipated match. It will be the first championship match since Vladimir Kramnik defeated Veselin Topalov for the title two years ago in the famous “Toiletgate” match. This match will feature contrasting styles and will be played at a time when both players may be at their peak play. In the challenger’s match. Veselin Topalov will face Gata Kamsky in a match that is still in question due to lack of sponorship. The winner of these two matches will play each other in a future match.
