Caribbean Juniors Clash in Chess Carnival
Leading junior chess players from across the Caribbean and Venezuela will join youngsters from Trinidad and Tobago in vieing for honours at the Caribbean Chess Carnival which comes off at Queens Royal College from Tuesday, August 2nd. Barbados, Guyana and Suriname are among the countries to be represented at the international seven-round Swiss tournament organised by the T&T Chess Foundation and sponsored by First Citizens Asset Management Ltd.
The annual contest, which carries a prize fund of $12,000, will be held over four days starting at 9 am on August 2 and continues daily to August 5. It is open to all juniors in four age categories, Under-10, Under-14, Under-20 and an introductory novice section.

Top T&T juniors, including FM Keron Cabralis, Vishnu Singh, Christian Ammon and Justin Labastide, will join two of the region’s leading players, Yu Tien Poon of Barbados and Calvin Tjong Tjin Joe of Suriname in the battle to become kings of the Carnival.
