Colas shares Nat’l Youth crown!
Scholastic standout Josh Colas continues to climb. Last weekend, Josh got his first taste of a National crown after tying for first in the National Youth Action tournament. He scored 7.5/9 and shared the K-9 crown with Kevin Cao and Jialin Ding. All three are near the top of players in their age categories and are in the top 4% of all players in the country (all ages).
Named to the All-American chess team last month, Josh also won the K-12 blitz with 9/10. The tournament was held in Oakbrook, Illinois and attracted 497 players. Guy Colas, the proud father of Josh, mentioned that he and his son met another star in Isaiah Gadson from St. Louis. Gadson scored 7/9 for joint second. Players are getting stronger at much faster rates. Josh is on course to shatter the record for youngest Black U.S. Master.
