U.S. Chess League's 'Chicago Blaze'

The U.S. Chess League just got a bit more exciting. In it’s fourth season, the league has expanded to 14 teams with Chicago and Arizona joining the western conference. IM Emory Tate has agreed to play for the Chicago Blaze in their debut season.

The swashbuckling tactician will bring his uncompromising style to the league, but of course one has to play a bit more conservatively in team events. Nevertheless, Tate will certainly be a welcome addition to the fantastic project of IM Greg Shahade, the league founder and commissioner.

The league has more than 20 GMs competing and a strong cadre of IMs, FMs and National Masters. There are many aspiring Masters and talented juniors as well. The league has a site with the feel of espn.com and is a bonanza for sports enthusiasts.
