The 2025 African Individual Chess Championship will be held from May 13th to 20th, 2025, in Cairo, Egypt. It is organized by the African Chess Confederation (ACC) and hosted by the Egyptian Chess Federation at the Police Union Club.

The tournament will feature both an open section and a women’s section. The 9-round Swiss tournament will have a time control of 40/90, then 30 minutes with a 30-second increment per move. Top players from across the African continent are expected to participate, including Africa’s strongest player, Bassem Amin (2649).

A total of 54 players in the Open section, and 27 players in the Women’s section, representing 17 nations. Some continental powers are missing. Nigeria and Angola are not listed among the participating nations. Participants include subzonal champions, national champions and/or national representatives.
